Una dieta flexitariana es una variaci\u00f3n de la dieta vegetariana. La persona que la sigue, el flexitariano, come principalmente fruta y verdura, pero de vez en cuando tambi\u00e9n puede comer carne y pescado o derivados de estos. Como por ejemplo los huevos, el queso o un yogur. De hecho, se considera una de las dietas m\u00e1s equilibradas, ya que en la mayor\u00eda se consume demasiada carne. O como pasa en las vegetarianas, no se ingiere en absoluto y se necesitan suplementos que nos aporten los nutrientes y vitaminas que faltan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color\">El nombre naci\u00f3 en los a\u00f1os 90 en Estados Unidos. Fue la chef&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Flexitarianismo\"><strong>Helga Morath<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;qui\u00e9n lo utiliz\u00f3 para definir el men\u00fa de su restaurante. Aunque no ha sido hasta hace pocos a\u00f1os que se ha&nbsp;hecho&nbsp;m\u00e1s conocido.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color\">En todo caso, el criterio principal al hablar de dietas flexitarianas o de los flexitarianos, sigue siendo&nbsp;<strong>una alimentaci\u00f3n mayoritariamente basada en plantas&nbsp;<\/strong>pero que no excluye cierto consumo de productos de origen animal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color\">El t\u00e9rmino \u201cflexitarianismo\u201d es un neologismo a partir de la combinaci\u00f3n de dos palabras:&nbsp;<strong>vegetarianismo y flexible.<\/strong>&nbsp;Fue acu\u00f1ado por el nutricionista <strong>Dawn Jackson Blatner<\/strong> a principios de los 90. Responde a la necesidad de denominar un creciente n\u00famero de personas interesadas en adoptar una dieta vegetariana pero que no quieren, o no se ven capaces de, renunciar definitivamente a las carnes y los pescados.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color\">Un flexitariano, por lo general,\u00a0<strong>elegir\u00e1 siempre que pueda una opci\u00f3n vegetal.<\/strong>\u00a0Por ejemplo, si ve en el men\u00fa de un restaurante una hamburguesa vegetal y otra de carne, optar\u00e1 por la primera. Pero si no hay una opci\u00f3n vegetariana atractiva,\u00a0<strong>a diferencia de un vegetariano o un vegano<\/strong>, el flexitariano actuar\u00e1 \u201ccon flexibilidad\u201d y quiz\u00e1 pida un plato con carne.
