As\u00ed, la masa muscular se pierde de forma gradual a partir de los 30 a\u00f1os, acelerando el proceso a partir de los 60 a\u00f1os.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color\">La sarcopenia puede llevar al paciente a la discapacidad y falta de independencia, adem\u00e1s de aumentar el riesgo de ca\u00eddas y fracturas o lesiones. Adem\u00e1s de una p\u00e9rdida de masa muscular, se produce un aumento del tejido graso, lo cual aumenta el riesgo de hipertensi\u00f3n, obesidad o diabetes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center has-secondary-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\"><strong>Otras causas de la Sarcopenia<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color\">La inactividad f\u00edsica, bien por un estilo de vida sedentario o bien por una inactividad f\u00edsica \u201cforzada\u201d debido a una enfermedad, discapacidad o incluso a una hospitalizaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color\">El entrenamiento y ejercicio f\u00edsico es clave para contrarrestar la sarcopenia, mejorando la fuerza, la resistencia y el equilibrio. Es necesario que el paciente lleve a cabo una rutina de entrenamiento de varias semanas, lo cual resulta muy efectivo en el aumento de masa muscular y de independencia del paciente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center has-secondary-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u00bfQu\u00e9 s\u00edntomas presenta?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color\">Los s\u00edntomas de la sarcopenia son la masa muscular baja o p\u00e9rdida gradual, menor fuerza muscular y un menor rendimiento f\u00edsico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center has-secondary-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u00bfC\u00f3mo se diagnostica?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color\">No existe una prueba de referencia, como en el caso de la osteopenia, para su diagn\u00f3stico, de manera que para poder indicar que una persona padece un determinado grado de sarcopenia se utilizan&nbsp;<strong>tres criterios cl\u00ednicos<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color wp-block-list\"><li>Una menor masa muscular.<\/li><li>Una menor fuerza muscular.<\/li><li>Un menor rendimiento f\u00edsico.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center has-secondary-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sarcopenia: La importancia de la nutrici\u00f3n<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color\">Una alimentaci\u00f3n adecuada es indispensable para reducir la incidencia de sarcopenia en edades avanzadas. En estos casos tambi\u00e9n es muy importante la individualizaci\u00f3n, aunque, de modo gen\u00e9rico, se puede apuntar que en las personas mayores \u201clos nutrientes m\u00e1s importantes son las&nbsp;<strong>prote\u00ednas<\/strong>\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color\">Esto es debido al proceso natural de p\u00e9rdida de masa muscular, de fuerza y al sedentarismo, lo que provoca que las demandas proteicas sean mayores, seg\u00fan determina la&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fen.org.es\/\">Fundaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola de Nutrici\u00f3n (FEN)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color\">Este organismo recomienda la ingesta de entre&nbsp;<strong>1 y 1,2 kilogramos (kg) de prote\u00ednas por kg de peso<\/strong>. No es bueno quedarse por debajo de esa cifra, pero tampoco pasarse porque podr\u00edamos provocar problemas renales. La FEN se\u00f1ala que \u201ceste aporte proteico deber\u00eda contener todos los amino\u00e1cidos esenciales y deber\u00eda realizarse a trav\u00e9s de la dieta\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color\">Otros nutrientes necesarios para actuar contra la sarcopenia son \u201cel metabolito de la leucina (el HMB, un amino\u00e1cido esencial), la creatina monohidratada, los antioxidantes, los \u00e1cidos Omega 3 y minerales como el selenio, el magnesio y el calcio\u201d. Tambi\u00e9n, y para un mejor descanso, se recomienda una combinaci\u00f3n de triptofano con melatonina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color\">Aceite de oliva, cereales integrales, verduras, frutos secos o pescados son algunos ejemplos de alimentos que pueden aportar estos nutrientes. La mayor parte de ellos forman parte de la&nbsp;dieta mediterr\u00e1nea, un tipo de dieta que la FEN destaca como \u00fatil para disminuir la incidencia de la sarcopenia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color\">En el otro extremo est\u00e1n los \u201calimentos ricos en grasas, az\u00facares, sal y los de baja densidad de nutrientes\u201d.
